The Definition of “is”

“It is what it is…” [catch phrase]

“It depends upon what the meaning of the word 'is' is.” [Bill Clinton, 1998]

Stuff Happens.

The things that happen to us…or around us…are neither good nor bad.

They are just “stuff”.

We have a choice on how we react to the things that happen to us…or around us.

If we follow at least three of the five agreements (#2, #3, and #5)… life can be much more serene amidst the madness that surrounds us on a daily basis:
2) Don't Take Anything Personally
3) Don't Make Assumptions
5) Be Skeptical But Listen

It is our baggage or assumptions that color our perceptions of situations and people.

Similarly, taking situations or words personally color how we feel or respond to events around us.

It is important to find a way to walk the razors edge and be dispassionate (skeptical) while listening.

Once we have all the information and see the big picture…then we can choose wisely when defining what the meaning of the word “is” is. ;-)
