The primary goal in “no trace camping” is to have a minimal impact on the location that is visited. In other words, “Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints," or “Pack it in. Pack it out”
On a personal note, I expanded this philosophy to how I approach life, and coined the term, “No Trace Living”.
Buddhists believe in the doctrine of non-permanence or the transient nature of life or existence.
Nothing lasts forever. It’s not good to become too attached to things or situations or people, as things break, situations change, and people change and die. In many ways desire and attachment are two sides of the same coin.
As a general rule, I am someone who is most comfortable in the shadows…and choose to inspire or influence from deep background.
I make a strong effort to not define myself via external things….like objects, job titles, or activities like making a mark or leaving a legacy.
Instead, I choose to keep it simple...and define myself simply by: who I am when I’m not doing the things that I do.
And someday, when I’m gone…there will be nothing to remind anyone that I was here.
I’ll just be a whisper on the wind.
