Geography Lesson



Have you noticed, whenever the United States of America is shown as a map on the nightly news broadcast, or atlas, the 50 states look something like this:






Or this:











Notice the relative size of the State of Alaska in the above images.

The reality, is that Alaska is the largest (geographically) in the union....and approximately 3/5 the size of the lower-48 and is roughly 2.5 times the great state of Texas....see below:

















In my day job, when I communicate the unique issues related Alaska to counterparts in the lower-48, I usually begin with the above graphic to demonstrate the vastness of the Alaskan frontier.

They say an image is worth a thousand words.
